DHARMIC LIFE
at Georgetown

Friends of Dharmic Life is a student-led fundraising initiative to establish an endowment for Georgetown University Dharmic Life, similar to that of other faith groups on campus. It began when recent information came to light that all Georgetown Dharmic Life events have absolutely no sustained institutional funding.

We thought this was unacceptable and, thus, have begun efforts to establish a Dharmic Life endowment fund, just like other religious groups have on campus which pays for all of their programming and innovations. We have to raise $100k for an endowment to be registered.

Join us in our efforts to help our community.

I cannot express the support and comfort dharmic life has provided me. I didn’t come to campus looking for or expecting any cultural or religious community. I didn’t expect to feel like crying when I went to my first Arati freshman year and to meet a group of people who’d make that place home.

Dharmic life is what made Georgetown my home away from home, from the second I sat on the blue prayer mats for the first time this semester. I couldn’t be thankful enough for everyone before me that made this possible, and I would do anything to be able to see this community thrive for all those that come after.

Dharmic Life has been such an amazing program and has helped me find both family and community at Georgetown, and spiritual and philosophical clarity. Here, we are building something great: the ability for youth to engage with our traditions at a depth that I have never seen before. I hope this can set an example for how other universities can best support their Dharmic students.
